DUI Victim News: Verizon Store
On July 1, 2018, customers at a local Verizon endured quite a shock. 49-year-old Cathleen Bizari crashed into the Tempe Verizon store on Sunday afternoon around 1 P.M.
There were approximately ten people inside the store located near McClintock Drive and Warner Road. Bizari was treated at the scene for minor injuries and arrested on suspicion of impairment.
Police say that the crash happened when Bizari pulled into the store to park. Rather than braking, she accelerated and drove into the store.
Bizari’s breath test indicated a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .321, more than four times the legal limit. She was booked, cited, and released at Tempe City Jail for DUI. She’s been charged with two accounts of felony endangerment and one cost of felony criminal damage.
Police are looking to see if Bizari had anything besides alcohol in her system as well.
An employee and customer suffered minor injuries as they tried to run from the oncoming vehicle. One customer suffered a gash to the leg. Considering how many people were in the store, it’s fortunate no one was seriously injured or killed.
Bizari did, however, cause $150,000 in damage.
This is the third drunk-driving incident in Tempe, Arizona to make news in recent months. In June alone:
